The meeting of the working group on alternative (Islamic) financial institutions and products, in the form of a round table discussion on the prospects for implementation in Russia of Islamic insurance (takaful) was held in the conference hall of Russia muftis Council. Presentations were made by Mr. Renat Bekkin, lecturer of MGIMO (U) of the MFA of Russia, Ph.D in law, and Mr. Evgeny Pankratov, tax expert of Pepeliaev, Goltsblat & Partners company.
The meeting was attended by members of the working group, representatives of consulting companies, universities, research institutions, and entrepreneurs. Russian insurance market was presented by "ERGO-life», «AK BARS INSURANCE", "Allianz Rosno Life", "RGS-Life" companies.
Participants discussed issues related to the implementation of Islamic insurance in Russia. Particular attention was paid to existing and potential problems of implementation of Islamic financial products, as a matter of law, and from the point of view of the demand from the population.
